You must stay here!

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and had an amazing stay.  The hotel in its entirety was lovely, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff, all of them, were amazing. Each one had a smile and a greeting and were always happy to chat. The breakfast was lovely, and really well planned. You filled out a form the day before with your breakfast choices and handed it in to reception, then your table was ready when you got down in the morning. Dinner was amazing, lots of choices and beautifully cooked food. Pooley Bridge is a great location, especially if you are looking for nearby walks to do. The Sun Inn will even provide a packed lunch if requested.  This was our first stay in the Lake District and we will definitely be returning and we will definitely be booking back in at the Sun Inn.

Spotlessley clean, warm and homely

Just back from and weekend break in the lovely Pooley Bridge by Ullswater. My wife and I enjoyed a very warm welcome and were shown to our immaculately clean double room. Comfy bed, large shower and plenty of space. Breakfast was delicious and we stayed for an evening meal, which was also excellent. We will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent place to stay and eat

We are frequent visitors to the Sun and decided to spend our wedding night there. John and Jane looked after us all week. We ate there most of the week and the food was fantastic! The staff welcomed us and made us feel like VIP’s. We even had swans and petals on our bed. We had a delicious meal there on NYE. With open fires, real ales, dog friendly and the perfect hosts, whats not to like? Thanks John, Jane and all the staff for making our week in the Lakes extra special!

The Best Sleep Ever

We arrived about 1.45pm, we were lucky our room was ready, the publican was happy and friendly joking with us and making you feel most welcome. After we climbed the stairs to a small but clean and neat room with everything we needed, we looked longingly at the beds both of us thinking a Nana nap would be great, alas we set off and explored. Returning back about 5.30 sat in the bar and sampled some local cider the fire was always burning and made to keep you warm the locals came and stayed for a drink and a meal. The menu isn’t huge but the choices are varied. I had ale pie which was a large serve and enough to sufficiently satisfy a elephant. After a huge meal we could of ventured out for a stroll but those comfortable beds were calling. And they are just that very comfortable. Wi Fi was good. no complaints would enjoy going back

Much more than expected

We booked as an overnight from Scotland but were impressed enough to want to return. The welcome was warm, the room spacious well equipped and spotless, likewise the bathroom. The quality of the food was great – not fussy but beautifully prepared and presented both in the evening and breakfast, staff we found to be cheerful and helpful. Our view was that all aspects of the business had been honed and polished including that rare thing of making our stay both comfortable and memorable.

Home from home

Very friendly staff, warm and welcoming rooms. The food was amazing, me and my wife visited 3 out of 4 nights staying just up the road and we weren’t disappointed once

Just Passing Through

We chose to take a look at the Lake District on our way to Scotland and Pooley Bridge appeared to be a good place to stay over as it is on the edge of Ullswater. The hotel is extremely busy, people eating throughout the day and this demonstrates the quality. We were not aware that this was the place where the bridge was washed away during the bad weather early in the year but the landlord was happy to tell us about the visit from Prince Charles in order to see the damage. Our room was excellent, everything we needed and more. The food was excellent, evening meal as well as breakfast all set just a walk from edge of the lake itself. We would certainly return if we pass this way again.

Excellent B&B and food

My father stayed here whilst we were at a campsite close by. My dad loved staying here, lovely single room, amazing breakfast and service. We ate at the pub on several occasions and had lovely food with great service. Highly recommended.

Clean, comfortable and nicely decorated

We’ve stayed here many times in the past and recently for two nights while we were walking in the local area. The rooms are clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast was excellent as usual and the overall menu had plenty of choice.

Best in Town!

We were lucky enough to get a twin room here for the long weekend just past and it was a great stay. They really bent over backwards to accommodate us and the staff were helpful the whole time and the pub downstairs was great too! The food in the pub is the best in town.

Accommodating in every way

We have just spent a week staying at this hotel whilst sailing and walking in the area. We had a thoroughly good time staying and eating at this hotel and recommend it to others. The staff are friendly and helpful. They accommodated my gluten free diet in their stride and even cooked stuff specially for me so I could have a larger choice off their menu.
